Broadly positioned and less prone to crisis
The medium-sized economy in the innovation region of Ulm has a broad base and is therefore less prone to crises. The region is one of the leading locations for pharmacy and biotechnology in Germany. In the area of transport and logistics, the Ulm / Neu-Ulm area is one of the largest growth regions. Other strengths lie in the areas of metal production and processing as well as in commercial vehicle and mechanical engineering.
According to an expert opinion by the chair of Professor Rürup on behalf of the Ulm Chamber of Commerce, the region will have a very high need for workers by 2020: 50,000 skilled workers and 10,000 academics will then be needed.
