“The region is well-positioned” said Alfred Szorg, head of Ulm’s employment agency. “On the one hand, we have the lowest unemployment rate we have ever had in the month of February; on the other hand, we have the highest level of posts yet to be filled.”
In February, the employment agency received more than 1,700 placement orders from companies in the district, with more than 5,000 jobs to be filled.
That only 5 per cent less people have lost their jobs, compared to the previous year in February, Szorg sees as further evidence of the stable market. “In good economic times and through full utilization of production capacities, more employees can be retained.” says the Head of the employment agency. However, there is also a slight decrease in the number of unemployed people entering employment.
Ulm’s agency district in State comparison
In the district of Ulm’s employment agency, the unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 per cent to 3.2 per cent. Together with the district of Rottweil-Villingen-Schwenningen, it has the lowest unemployment rate in the State. In the previous year, the Ulm unemployment rate also dropped by 0.1 per cent. The State of Baden-Württemberg has an average unemployment rate of 3.8 per cent.
Alb-Donau- Kreis
In the district of Alb-Donau-Kreis, the unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 per cent to 3.2 per cent.
Ulm
In the city area of Ulm, 2,850 unemployed people were looking for emplyment. Compared with February in the previous year, the unemployment rate has declined significantly by 7.1 per cent, leaving the unemployment rate in the reference month at 4.2 per cent.
District Neu-Ulm
In the district of Neu-Ulm, the unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 per cent to 2.6 per cent. Last year, it stood at 2.9 per cent.

As of February 2017, the labour market is looking in good condition. The employment agency for the region of Ulm calculated that the number of unemployed people fell by 250 to 9,200. This led to a reduction of 0.1 per cent in the unemployment rate, bring it to 3.2 per cent. Once again, Ulm has the best employment rate in the State of Baden-Württemberg. In the Neu-Ulm district, the unemployment rate fell by 0.1 per cent to 2.6 per cent, compared with the preceding month.
