Clever alternatives for networkers

Ulm metropolitan area
Clever alternatives for networkers: There are three clusters in the Ulm innovation region: the BioRegion Ulm with the BioPharMaXX initiative, the Cluster Commercial Vehicles Swabia and the logistics cluster Swabia.
“Clusters” are generally understood as collections of different companies in an industry in a region. The entire value chain is covered.
Bioregion Ulm
The BioRegionUlm is the European and world leader in the field of biotechnologically manufactured pharmaceuticals. 60 percent of the thirty leading pharmaceutical companies in Germany are based here. From the area of life sciences, over 100 companies can be assigned to the BioRegionUlm.
In 2009, the BioPharMaXX cluster initiative was initiated by the BioRegionUlm e.V. BioPharMaXX serves to intensify the networking of companies and research institutions from the fields of biotechnology, pharmacy, medical technology and the healthcare industry. The cluster initiative focuses in particular on strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

With the University of Ulm, the Universities of Ulm and Biberach, clinics and companies, the BioPharMaXX cluster has strong partners. The Biberach University of Applied Sciences and the University of Ulm also offer a unique training profile in pharmaceutical biotechnology.
Company founders in the field of “life sciences” find ideal starting conditions in the Ulm Biotechnology Center of the Ulm Technology and Start-Up Center (tfu).
Swabia Commercial Vehicles Cluster (CNS)
The Ulm innovation region is Germany’s number one commercial vehicle location. The highest concentration of commercial vehicle manufacturers is found here nationwide. In 2007, this led to the foundation of the “Cluster Commercial Vehicles Swabia” initiative.
Numerous member companies cover the entire value chain in commercial vehicle construction. The goals are the networking of member companies and the exchange with science and research institutions. By working together on future-oriented projects, permanent competitive advantages are to be achieved for those involved, but also for the region as a whole.
This will be intensified in five working groups:
- drive technology
- Electronics / IT in commercial vehicles
- adhesive technology
- production technology
- lightweight
Securing the next generation of engineers and arousing young people’s enthusiasm for technology are further central goals of the Commercial Vehicles Swabia cluster.
Logistics Cluster Swabia (LCS)
Logistics serves all companies: it fulfills a central cross-sectional task for the entire economy. Almost all companies from the areas of production, distribution and trade are directly dependent on efficient logistics. This applies in particular to a region with an above-average industrial population such as Swabia. Studies by Fraunhofer Supply Chain Services (SCS) repeatedly show that Swabia is one of the “top logistics locations” in Germany.
The logistics cluster would like to show this and explain logistics to interested parties. The cluster also networks the companies that do logistics – transporters, freight forwarders, industry, trade and services – and offers a platform for exchange.
The aim of the Logistics Cluster Swabia is to give the logistics location Swabia – in addition to its proven high potential – a clear profile together with universities, municipalities, business development agencies and other partners and to make it clearer to the public and politicians regionally, nationally and internationally.
