Integration: Chamber of Industry and Commerce provides support for companies

14. July 2016

Anna Sonntag provides hands-on assistance with all issues concerning the legal framework around internships, entry qualifications, education, employment and funding opportunities. Furthermore, the companies get support in promoting a culture of welcome in order to achieve a successful internal and social integration of refugees.

Close cooperation and an intensive exchange with the so-called “carers” (“Kümmerer”) of the Ulm Chamber of Industry and Commerce play an important role in this process. They support refugees in their occupational orientation and accompany them on their way to the training. “Our coordinator, Mr. Speidel, the carers and our new Willkommenslotsin, Mrs. Sonntag, are contact persons for the refugees, the companies as well as for our partners. Only by joint efforts we will be able to cope with the great challenge of integration of refugees into training and work. The problems are still not solved, although they are no longer in the public eye,” CEO of the Ulm Chamber of Industry and Commerce Otto Sälzle said.

The “Willkommeslotsen” initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy within the programme “Custom-fit Employment – Support to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Custom-fit Employment of Apprentices and the Integration of Foreign Skilled Workers”.
