27. April 2020

With the music streaming service Freegal Music, the Ulm City Library offers free access to over 15 million music titles and 40,000 music videos. Rock, pop, classical music, jazz, world music and many other musical genres are represented. The offer includes songs by Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Silbermond, Die Ärzte, Beyoncé, Solange Knowles, Alicia Keys, Grace Carter, Moop Mama, Marteria, Tim Bendzko, Roland Kaiser, Andrea Berg, Jonas Kaufmann, Pretty Yende and many other artists. Freegal Music also includes audio books and radio plays for children and adults.

The digital music offer is made possible by the special funds approved by the Ulm municipal council as part of the Ulm City Library’s online offensive. The model experiment music streaming is initially scheduled to run for three years up to and including 2022 in order to record and evaluate the needs of citizens for the streaming offer of a public library with a traditionally well-developed music department.

With a valid library card, members can stream music 24 hours a day via the Freegal Music website or the Freegal Music app. Own playlists can be created. If desired, own playlists can be created.

In addition, the library members can download up to three songs in mp3 format per week, which can be played without an internet connection after the download. These can be used use permanently (they are DRM-free).
