In the recent past, the member company of Innovationsregion Ulm has expanded its production and invested 5 million euros for this.
The medical technology company’s new production plant is equipped with the latest, networked manufacturing technology and is already producing at full speed. “This extensive expansion was only possible thanks to our profitable and sustainable growth,” says Managing Director Klaus Kiesel. The company is continuing to expand its location in Germany and is thus positively distinguishing itself from a part of the medical technology industry that, according to the autumn survey* by the Federal Association of Medical Technology (BVMed), is reducing its investments in Germany. This applies to almost 30 percent of the medical technology companies surveyed and is justified by them, among other things, with the increased regulatory conditions.
Above-average sales growth
According to BVMed, sales in the medtech industry grew by an average of 4.8 percent in 2023*, while Ulrich Medical including its subsidiaries can show an increase of 12 percent with sales of 150 million. The above-average development in this challenging economic environment is also reflected in terms of personnel:
There are now a total of around 600 employees at the Ulm location and in the subsidiaries in France and the USA. From October 2022 to October 2023 alone, 23 new positions were created and filled at the Ulm location. “Our employees are the heart of our company and their passionate commitment and professional expertise form the basis of our success. We are very proud to develop and produce the medical products we use worldwide in Germany,” says Christoph Ulrich, managing partner of Ulrich Medical. Ulrich Medical supports the further expansion of market shares through collaborations with global partners, such as GE Healthcare and most recently Bracco Imaging.
