8. April 2016

Tourism development figures in Ulm and Neu-Ulm overtop the average for Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Nearly 481.000 guests stayed in hotels with more than ten beds past year, 5.4 percent more than the year before. Altogether 795.000 guest-nights were spent in 2015, which is also 5.4 percent more than in 2014. During the same period the number of overnight stays increased by 3.3 percent in Baden-Württemberg and by 3.4 percent in Bavaria.

These statistics were presented by the Ulm/Neu-Ulm Touristik GmbH (UNT). Wolfgang Dieterich, Managing Director, is pleased with these figures. “The twin cities have established themselves as an attractive city trip destination”, he said. “Due to the good economic situation, the business tourism has also developed positively. ” These trends were reflected in the number of overnight stays, which had risen by 73 percent since 2004.

Ulm and Neu-Ulm are becoming more popular abroad. Meanwhile, foreign guests make up a quarter of all city visitors. For the first time, the number of overnight stays by foreign visitors has exceeded the 200,000 mark.

The city is particularly popular with the Dutch. They have once again topped the list of visitors to Ulm with a total of 16.776 people having come from the Netherlands. The Swiss tourists hold the number two position, followed by Italians, Belgians and Austrians. The US topped the list for overseas tourists followed by China. The most overnight visits were in July and August. The average length of stay was 1,6 days.
