Stadt Illertissen
Illertissen – a town with prospects
Nestling in the middle stretch of the Iller valley, on the ancient Bavarian and Württemberg border and midway between Ulm and Memmingen, the prosperous town of Illertissen, is characterized by its growing economy and quality of life. Its close link to the A7 motorway between Memmingen and Ulm provides it with excellent road transport facilities for trade and industry. In addition, the railway station is on the main Ulm-Kempten line and Memmingen regional airport is close by.
Living and Working
Incorporating the villages of Tiefenbach, Betlinshausen, Au and Jedesheim and with a population of about 17,000, Illertissen provides its citizens with an excellent infrastructure. It is a central town between Ulm and Memmingen and is an ideal place to work and live. Numerous trades and industries from all branches provide excellent employment opportunities. The Start-up Centre in Illertissen gives support and help to individuals and small companies in achieving their dreams. The excellent infrastructure as well as countless leisure activities, such as the museums, a wide range of shops, the popular leisure pool “Nautilla” and, especially for cyclists, the Iller valley cycle routes, all make this a very attractive town. A lively town centre, a variety of specialist retailers and several supermarkets for day-to day needs complete the picture.
Medical care
Medical care is not only provided for by the Illertal Clinic and, a rarity in this region, the recent addition of the iTCM Clinic, with its integrative traditional Chinese medicine, but also by numerous general and specialist medical practices. “Sebastian House” and the “Caritas Centre” provide a wide range of care and support services for Illertissen´s senior citizens.
Education
Illertissen places great emphasis on education: the facilities for families couldn’t be better – a wide range of schools and nurseries, child care for all age groups, schools for children with special needs, vocational training college, music school and a large number of clubs catering for a range of activities. The Trade Association’s Training Centre and the Centre for Higher Education in the Castle, which hosts events from the universities and colleges of Neu-Ulm, Augsburg and Kempten and which is also available for corporate and private use, deserve a special mention.
Culture
Finally, lovers of art and culture will find something to suit them: plays presented by the “Schwabenbühne” and other theatre groups, top class concerts organised by the “Friends of Culture in the Castle”, numerous concerts organised by the local choirs and orchestras and the museums are all well worth a visit.
